An amendment to BS 7671:2001 (The IEE Wiring Regulations) state that new cable core colours must be used for all fixed wiring in electrical installations in the UK.
This amendment is to bring the UK more closely in line with practice in mainline Europe.
This new wallchart explains the colour changes in more detail.
The amendment stipulates that any alterations and extensions to electrical installations using the new cable core colours in conjunction with the old colours must display this notice.
